The Protein Society Organizes a Special Session to Open the 19th American Peptide Symposium
At the 18th American Peptide Symposium in Boston, Bill DeGrado (then President of the Protein Society) and Roger Freidinger (President of the APS) began discussing potential ways for closer interactions between our societies. One idea, which both Presidents felt had potential, was organizing and sponsoring a special session at the other society's symposium.
The current President of the Protein Society, Bob Matthews, followed up this initial discussion by inviting the APS to sponsor a one day symposium at the Protein Society meeting in San Diego, August 14-18, 2004.
The APS Council accepted this proposal and also invited the Protein Society to sponsor a session at the 19th American Peptide Symposium in 2005; their Council accepted this invitation. Bob Matthews and Roger Freidinger also agreed to exchange Society booths at the exhibitions of our respective meetings.
Jeff Kelly, the Protein Society's President-elect, has now organized a session for the first morning of the 19th American Peptide Symposium on June 18, 2005 based on the theme "Protein Design." The following speakers will participate: William Russ, Roland Riek, Steve Mayo, Homme W. Hellinga, Andrea Cochran, Marcus Jager, Felicia Etzkorn, Fabrizio Chiti.
The American Peptide Society welcomes the Protein Society to our Symposium and looks forward to what promises to be an outstanding scientific session.
